Sunday 13 October 2024 at 6.30pm, the Cardinal Michael CZERNY (SJ, Prefect of the Dicastery of Integral Human Development), will celebrate Mass in the Church of the Archangel Saint-Michel, in the working-class suburb of Pietralata. The Institute of Prado Priests is pleased to be associated with this celebration, which will bring to a close the Colloquium on the Mission and Vocation of Lay Peopleorganised by the Australian Cardijn Institute and the International Cardijn Centrewhich will be held from Wednesday 9 to Sunday 13 October in Rome.

As a reminder, 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the Vatican II Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, Lumen gentiumwhich includes, for the first time in a conciliar document, a chapter on the laity and their role in the Church and the world. 13 October is also the date on which Patrick Keegan, a pioneer of the YCW and the Christian Workers' Movement, addressed the Second Vatican Council.

Archbishop Alfred ANCELThe auxiliary bishop of Lyon and superior of the Prado priests at the time was a key figure in the apostolate of the laity in France, and his commitment to the pastoral care of the working class. LPope Pius XII entrusted Mgr Alfred ANCEL with a parish in Rome served by the priests of Prado. It was the parish of Saint Jean-Marie Vianney in the Borghesiana district. Today, the parish entrusted to Prado is Santa Maria del Soccorso, in the Tiburtino district, which is geographically close to Pietralata, where the parish of San Michele Arcangelo is located. This is why Fr. José Maria TORTOSA ALARCONa Spanish pradosian priest and parish priest, will concelebrate the Mass.
