On the occasion of the’Antoine Chevrier Year, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of his birth and the 40th anniversary of his beatification, members of the Prado Spiritual Family have prepared a Proposed Christmas Eve Celebration to share and experience together.
Intended for parishes, church groups, chaplaincies, and organizations, this vigil is open to both adults and young people. It can be held on December 24 or on another date, depending on each community’s circumstances.
“Oh my God, I admire your desire to make a name for yourselves.”
“How beautiful, Jesus Christ!”Antoine Chevrier
What if we made Christmas «a journey of transformation»?
Through the words and reflections of Blessed Antoine Chevrier, this vigil invites everyone to allow themselves to be transformed and to follow Father Chevrier, who sought to open this path to all.
An invitation to take the time to embrace the mystery of Christmas, to let the Word touch our hearts, and to renew the way we follow Jesus.
A Proposal to Embrace
The program for the vigil is available in PDF and Word formats so that everyone can adapt it as they wish.
A condensed version of the vigil's program is also available.
Staging, lighting effects, the shepherds’ participation, music, singing, symbolic gestures… Several elements can be adjusted to encourage the congregation’s participation and support the prayer.
Songs are also suggested, chosen to complement the flow of the vigil and to alternate between moments of expression and reflection. They can, of course, be replaced with others.
The document also provides some guidance on preparing for the vigil, particularly regarding the readers.
This vigil lasts at least 30 minutes and can be shortened or expanded depending on each community's choices and circumstances.
Please feel free to share this suggestion widely with those around you, so that as many people as possible can make it their own and fully experience this Christmas season.
May the Holy Spirit sustain us as we welcome, organize, and participate in this vigil during this year of grace.
May Blessed Antoine Chevrier intercede for us and help us to share in the grace that he himself received for the whole Church.
