Year of Alfred ANCEL, Auxiliary Bishop of Lyon

La Prado spiritual family and the diocese of Lyon invite you to (re)discover the figure of Mgr Alfred Ancel (1898-1984), Auxiliary Bishop of Lyon from 1947 to 1973.

The Ancel year starts on 11 September 2024, will be punctuated by an exhibition, conferences, a symposium, retreats and various other spiritual events.

The main events of the Ancel Year :

- Wednesday 11 September 2024: Opening of the Ancel Year à 19 h in the Primatiale Saint Jean-Baptiste (Lyon 5^th) by a mass chaired by Mgr Olivier de Germay, Archbishop of Lyon.
- Saturday 14 September 2024 at the Basilique Saint Bonaventure (7, place des Cordeliers - Lyon) ^2nd) :
  >> 17 h – Inauguration of the exhibition "A Lyon bishop in his century".
  Nb: The exhibition will be open to the public until 31 October 2024. It is also available to parishes, services, movements and associations that wish to host it.

>> 18 h – Conference "The Pastoral Charity of Father Ancel" by Antonio BRAVO, former Superior General of the Secular Institute of the Priests of Prado.

Friday 27 October 2024: 1st spiritual day "Sundays in Limonest".
Tuesday 3 December 2024: Regard sur l'Actualité conference - "The difficulties faced by young people supported by Prado Education"of which Alfred Ancel was founding chairman.

Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 March 2025: Conference at the Catholic University of Lyon with Christoph THEOBALD, Christian SORREL and Jacques Benoit RAUSCHER.
Sunday 23 March 2025: 2nd spiritual day "Sundays in Limonest".
Thursday 15 May 2025: Les Jeudis du Prado conference - "A witness to Christ for today".
Sunday 18 May 2025: 3rd spiritual day "Sundays in Limonest".
From Thursday 29 May to Sunday 1 June 2025 : Retirement "Being a disciple of Christ in the wake of Father Alfred Ancel"at Pradines Abbey.
Sunday 24 to Friday 29 August 2025: Retirement "Being a disciple of Christ in the wake of Father Alfred Ancel"in Limonest.
Thursday 11 September 2025: Closing of the Alfred Ancel Year at Notre-Dame-Saint-Louis church, Lyon 7th à with a mass presided over by Mgr Dominique BLANCHET, Bishop of Créteil.
