Event
Retreat: Being a disciple of Christ in the wake of Archbishop Alfred ANCEL
Event details
This retreat, reserved for members of the Prado spiritual family, is being offered as part of the year commemorating the 40th anniversary of the death of Mgr Alfred Ancel. It is led by Christian Delorme (Priest of the diocese of Lyon and of Prado).
Auxiliary Bishop of Lyon and Superior General of Prado for three decades, Father Alfred Ancel (1898-1984) was first and foremost a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Throughout his life, particularly after discovering the figure of Father Antoine Chevrier, he never stopped trying to imitate the poor and gentle Christ of the cot.
As an apostle, he allowed himself to be seized by the appeals of the world of workers and migrants. Aware that all the baptised form the Body of Christ in the present world, he encouraged the laity as much as he cared for the training of priests and the religious life of women.
He was one of the most active French bishops at the Second Vatican Council, and his influence led to the international development of the Prado family. Nicknamed "the second founder of Prado" by Pope Paul VI, Mgr Alfred Ancel left us, through his life witness and his writings, a spiritual message that remains as relevant as ever.
During these days of retreat, we will walk in his wake,
following Jesus Christ, the only true shepherd.
